Centro de Arte Moderna / Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian
Various exhibitions relevant for Ar.Co’s history take place at the Centro de Arte Moderna of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. On the one hand, there are the individual shows by artists who spent time at Ar.Co in curricular and extra-curricular placements or developed training actions at the school, such as the 1984 “Desenho e Gravura de Shang Hutter” (a guest at the Sculpture department) and the 1990 “Escultura e Desenho de Ângela Ferreira” (a presentation of her work as a resident artist in Ar.Co). On the other hand, there are collective exhibitions such as the “International Ceramics Symposium – Alcobaça 87”, gathering in 1988 pieces produced during the initiative, and “Bolseiros Portugueses no Royal College of Art 1991/92”, presenting in 1992 works by the first wave of Ar.Co students to finish the London Studio program at RCA (José Luís Neto, António Júlio Duarte, Suzanne Themlitz, Francisco Tropa, Cristina Filipe and Jorge Queiroz). In 2004, an ambitious Jewellery show (“Meeting Point(s) - 25 Years of Interventions in Ar.Co's Jewellery Department”) commemorates the 30th anniversary of Ar.Co and the 25th anniversary of the Jewellery department, representing several of its national and international collaborations.
