International Stone Sculpture Symposium - Évora 81
Ar.Co accepts the challenge put forth by João Cutileiro and António Pedroso (the faces of Utilpedra - Centro Técnico de Estudo e Utilização da Pedra, SCRL) of organizing an International Stone Sculpture Symposium in the city of Évora. The initiative takes place from the 10th of May to the 7th of June of 1981 at the Palácio D. Manuel I. João Cutileiro is part of the group of “veterans” that includes the foreign guests Sergi Aguilar (Spain), Andrea Cascella (Italy), Minoru Niizuma (Japan/USA), Syoho Kitagawa (Japan) and Pierre Szekely (Hungary/France). The “young” sculptors are Rui Anahory, Brígida Arez, José Pedro Croft, Amaral da Cunha, Pedro Fazenda, Luísa Periennes, Pedro Ramos, Manuel Rosa and António Campos Rosado. Ulrich Rückriem, also among the international guests, could only be present at a later date. Some of the resulting pieces were presented in various places throughout the city, although in many cases waiting for a definitive placement.
